Texture & Textile

When the city swelters in the hot summer months I have no mind for fashion or style. Give me a tank top and a simple pair of shorts and I’m good to go. It’s simply too hot for anything else. When the weather starts to shift towards cooler autumn temperatures I find myself enjoying layers again. Long sleeves and shorts are always a favorite.

Texture and textiles are what I gravitate towards. Here I figured — why not? — and paired a rather loud shirt with an even louder pair of shorts. I liked how the patterns compliment each other, but the top and bottom are inverses of each other. It keeps things from looking like a uniform.

I’ve talked about my love of DayGlo Peach and it’s clear I still haven’t kicked the habit. While this tank top might need a hot minute with an iron, I love the languid feel of the fabric. It has a very loose fit and I love how it floats in the summer. Adding a nice pair of sleeves lets me bring it into the cooler months while still adding a pop of color to an otherwise monochromatic look.
