Now I know all of you trendy little things already know about The Standard in New York City, but sometimes it’s good to be reminded. After what seems like endless cold, and buckets of rain, we’re finally starting to feel the first sunny breaths of summer here in NYC. The city can be a pretty hot and gross place in the summer, which is why you can always find me on a rooftop enjoying the views and a much needed breeze.
One of my favorite places, hands down, is Le Bain, which is a lounge/bar situated all the way at the tippy top of The Standard. You have sweeping views out over the city, north into Times Square and Midtown (specifically from the bathroom!) and south into the Financial District. To the west is New Jersey, which has oddly never looked so good as it does lit up across the river in the early evening.
Le Bain gets its name from the indoor jacuzzi, but I’ve never been in that, as mingling in a broth of stranger soup doesn’t really appeal to me. Head on upstairs to the lounge chairs and enjoy the views. There’s also a crepe stand upstairs. Yep. Crepes. I don’t even need to say anything more on that.
Le Bain is the darling hotspot of the fashion crowd, so naturally things are going to be a little bit swankier and well dressed here. It’s located right in the Meatpacking District, which is a nice change of pace for me, as I’m usually on the East side of the city.
Drinks are relatively normal for New York, so a bit on the pricier side in comparison to my usual happy hour digs, but the view and upgraded atmosphere is so worth it.
