The South End in Boston is all brownstone buildings and charm, with tree lined avenues and gardens tucked away here and there. It’s also home to some of the city’s best dining, with a wide variety of restaurants in the area. If you’re looking for a hearty brunch on a budget, Aquitaine’s brunch special is for you. Served all day Saturday and 10-11am on Sunday, for $9.95 you get coffee, fresh orange juice, a petite cinnamon bun, and your choice of eggs and toast — the Omelette Basquaise with ham, gruyere, and parsley is quite nice, but the Eggs Piperade with peppers, onions, tomatoes, and ham might be my favorite. The space is quite swanky, yet in a Parisian bistro-nextdoor kind of way, with towering ceilings and white linen topped tables meticulously laid out. There’s even a small bar in the front window, a perfect place to wait for one of the leather booths, or a lovely someone to brunch with.
