Meat Pies. Certainly not the loveliest of phrases in the English language, but quite possibly one of the most delicious. Located at 115 St Mark’s Place between 1st and A, Tuck Shop is an East Village favorite. At $5.50 a pie, you get a freshly made meat pie all your very own. I had the “Chook Pie” which is chicken, ham, and leeks in a white gravy, and I’d definitely fancy a round two if they weren’t so filling. Just a sidenote: my favorite NYC source and confidante loves the Thai Curry Pie. Tuck Shop prides itself on using 100% natural ingredients, and you really can taste how fresh they are, although, since they’re open until 5am on the weekends, you might only be focused on how tasty they are.
