Suit It Up With Refined Textures

While I know it rocks the boat for a lot of guys, I’m generally not into the whole suiting thing. I think it looks great on some guys, especially if they’re of a broader build, but I usually feel like a box with bangs when I throw on a suit. I know everyone harps on fit being key — because it is — but there isn’t always a lot out there for slimmer guys. Which is why I jumped when I saw this jacket at Zara.

Right off the rack this fit like a dream, due in part to the fact that it’s actually knitwear. Yes, it’s knit, and I’m crazy about it. With suiting I feel like you’re always buttoned up and tucked in and not allowed to breathe — not so with a knit jacket! This one is of a medium weave, so it doesn’t look like it’s breathing, but it’s super light. There’s a partial lining, so you really don’t feel like you’re wearing a jacket so much as a comfy sweater.

I paired my jacket with a pair of black Levis, a basic black t-shirt with a loose neckline, and my favorite pair of shoes. I call these my “Bodega Venetas” because of the woven leather, but they’re actually Vittorio Virgili. I scored mine on eBay in one of those “too good to be true” moments, wherein I paid $25 and got the most amazing pair of shoes.
