The more I work in fashion the more my own tastes seem to streamline and simplify themselves. While I do enjoy the artistry and craftsmanship of some of those over the top pieces, I never pull the trigger when it comes to my own purchases.
I pay attention to fit and fabric more than bells and whistles, and this jacket was one of my favorite recent discoveries, from none other than Forever21. I complimented a friend’s shirt this summer and he told me it was from Forever21. Before that moment, I didn’t even know the store carried clothes for guys. Hi, surprise! Lately though I’ve braved the hordes of tourists in Times Square to wander through the selection, and I’ve been super impressed with the variety of styles, the great prices, and most importantly, the solid construction and great quality of the pieces — you’re not saving money if it’s too cheap to wear.
I’ve always been a fan of the baseball jacket. I have a black satin one, and a tamer one in burgundy, but this season I was super excited to find this one with the faux leather sleeves. It ads just a bit of extra edge and “unique” factor, and it’s a bit more of a polished look for city living.
The sunglasses were sent to me by Arnette, and I couldn’t be more excited about them. They’re solidly built, and you can actually change the arms on them — each pair comes with two sets, so you can customize your look, and get more bang for your buck.
I like these because they’re in a totally different colorway than I might otherwise gravitate towards. However, since they’re still a classic shape, it doesn’t play off as too over the top or wild. Live a little and step outside of the usual fields, and sometimes you find pleasant surprises.
Pick up the jacket here, and get your glasses here.
