On Dayglo

This weekend we had some genuinely beautiful weather. Sunshine, warmth. It’s almost like Spring was here, which my winter weary heart was all aflutter for — Spring means it’s almost Summer, which is perfect.

I’ve become a fan of dayglo. I don’t know when it happened, but fluorescent yellow, highlighter orange, I just kind of love it. There was a moment when it was everywhere on the street style scene, and I have to admit I was kind of over it then — it was EVERYWHERE, and it seemed a bit much all the time. But then it slowly started growing on me.

In the summer there’s nothing that makes my tan look better than a pop of electric yellow. It works with my skin tone, and it just makes me think of the summer. In the colder months, like here, I like adding it under layers. My usual color platte is generally reserved, so adding that bright pop of color is totally unexpected.

I’ve had these sneakers for about 10 years. Which is kind of insane. But I bought them so many years ago (for a failed attempt at joining the track team) because I was all about the bright pop of yellow. It’s all about the details.
