Giafrese

Located in Boston’s Beacon Hill neighborhood, this is a tiny little place right on Charles Street, the main thoroughfare in the area. Which means if you grab the big bay window at the front of the restaurant, you’ll be placed perfectly for people watching. Beacon Hill does have a special charm about it, so Figs is also a good date place — it’s cute and charming, perfect for the flirty Pilgrim in you.

Though they do have other things on the menu, the focus of this place is pizza. The fig and prosciutto pizza, unsurprisingly, is amazing — rosemary crust topped with fig and balsamic jam, topped with prosciutto and gorgonzola. It’s a completely different flavor palette than you usually get with pizza, and that’s what I love about it. The spicy chicken sausage is delicious, with herbed ricotta and balsamic onions, and I also find myself thinking maybe too often of the crispy eggplant, with mozzarella and whipped ricotta. Yes, please.

I would recommend splitting a pizza with a friend or two, and trying out as many different toppings as they’ll let you — half-and-half is a good way to go. Live it up with a little adventure, and I promise you won’t be disappointed. Unless you’d rather just have cheese, then I can’t really help you (just kidding — head to NYC pizza on Tremont Street).
