After weeks of sunshine today is muggy and overcast, yesterday’s sunshine replaced by cloudy skies. I woke to rainstorms and I thought it was Wednesday — indicative of the mid-week slump I’ve been feeling. After having a friend in town for a week followed up by a glorious weekend at the beach totally disconnected from everything, I came back to the city and went right back to work. But as I click-clack away at my keyboard, I can’t help but crave a little more time at the beach, and maybe a cooler breeze.
I grew up in New England and while preppy reigns supreme there, I never took the bait. Instead I went for the more European version of breton stripes — they’re classic and you can never go wrong with them. They’re effortless, and they always remind me of both the streetstyle in Paris and the beaches throughout Europe.
While I might be in the middle of Midtown right now, I love the idea of pairing these with a pair of shredded jeans and pretending I’m somewhere along the coast. In the city I went with a pair of chunky boots to help keep things balanced, but on the beaches I’d go with a pair of sandals or boat shoes. When the temperatures drop along the coast a night, this is something you’d find me wearing.
The sunglasses are from Paris, and are my favorite because of their unique cobalt color and the retro-modern circular shape. Always in a pair of sunglasses, my accessories are always the brightest and most wild part of my style. Why not live it up a little bit?
