Afternoons in the Park

It seems like the weather is forever oscillating between the seasons. One day it’s sweltering, the next we’re swimming in cold, torrential downpours. On the rare occasion we do manage to hold on to our sunlight, I’m the first one out into the park for an afternoon break.

As someone who used to hate tank tops, I admit they now make up the bulk of my wardrobe. They’re cheap and easy to wear, and they add a nice pop of color. Also, they’re great layering pieces — which are critical in New York, where the swelter outside is always matched by the air conditioned tundra indoors. Seriously people, we struggled through winter, why are you voluntarily making it that cold again?

With sunshine comes sunglasses, and I can’t say no to a solid pair of sunnies. Most of my collection features tortoise shell of some kind, and I love the half and half detail on these from SpyOptic. The blockier square shape gives them a more modern feel with just a bit of 80s vibe.

Sunglasses aside, the star of this look is definitely the cardigan. I snagged it on sale at H&M for about $20, and it’s been my go-to lately. Super fitted (or is that just too small?) and in a solid eggplant color, it’s a fun twist on an otherwise boring wardrobe standby.

The boots are from my all-time favorites, H by Hudson, and these beauties required no breaking in. Just ready to wear style, right out of the box. Can’t beat it.
